CAH-RAZY is the best way to describe the party I witnessed for Caitlin and Adam's gorgeous Milwaukee wedding. When I shot Caitlin and Adam's engagement session in Door County back in June, I had a suspicion their wedding was going to be an absolute blast filled immense amounts of laughter and celebration. From a miniature cookie monster, a runaway flower girl, an adorable silly-faced ring bearer, a flying bride, to a striptease by the groom....It certainly didn't disappoint. What I didn't expect, was the amazing heartfelt tears of shear joy from every nook and cranny during the wedding day. Aside from heavy bouts of laughing, this wedding photographer fully admits to shedding a tear behind the lens on more than one occasion.
As for the wedding; We couldn't have asked for a better day...OK! Maybe a bit warmer weather, and certainly more sun in the morning. By the afternoon, the clouds gave way to a glorious sun-filled blue sky. I started my day at Erik of Norway Salon Spa as the girls were getting all beautified. The Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon provided a beautiful, wide open, backdrop for the ceremony, and we shot some amazing outdoor portraits at the Joan of Arc Chapel on the Marquette Campus and the Third Ward Riverfront. The reception? WOW! is the one word the sums up the Milwaukee Grain Exchange. It had been nearly eight years since I had last seen a wedding in this space, and it's changed so much since then. The Bartolotta Catering Company has done a marvelous job renovating the space. Another word that comes to mind is 'opulent', as was evident by the constantly dropping jaws as guests entered the ballroom. Then there is Bartolotta's catering. OH MY! The Grain Exchange ambiance and Bartolotta's amazing menu are a match made in heaven.
After a wedding such as this, it's hard to imagine anything could be more perfect. With that, I made the decision to make this the third and final Featured Wedding of 2009. You can find Caitlin and Adam's extended slideshow by selecting This Link or going to the Galleries Menu above.
As with all of my wedding couples, I feel so blessed to have been a part of this amazing day. I really do have the best job in the world. :) Much love, many blessings and Happy Holidays to Caitlin, Adam and their family and friends.

Wow! What a wedding. Being a Milwaukee wedding photographer, I love every chance I get to shoot in Chicago. It's an entirely different world, and one that simply pushes my buttons in a very good way. :) I've worked in such venues as the Chicago Illuminating Company, The Herrington in Geneva, Country Clubs in Winnetka and Bolingbrook, and now I've had the pleasure of shooting wedding photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Ballroom. It's hard to pick a favorite wedding, as they've all been uniquely wonderful. But I will say this, none of the Chicago weddings I've covered have EVER celebrated like this.
Allie and Nelson's reception simply shook Chicago to the ground. And personally, I blame Hooked on Sonics. They are, without a doubt, the best band I've ever enjoyed at a wedding. The light show? You'll see. A quick note to the 2010 brides, don't forget the lighting. Really. It's often an overlooked aspect to the wedding experience, and it simply adds such an exceptional layer of color and mood to the overall ambiance of a wedding. :) Back to Hooked on Soncis. They were an amazing crescendo for an incredible day of top notch service from the SAIC and the exquisite catering of Food For Thought. ...I really didn't want to leave, but I had a 6:00 am engagement shoot in Milwaukee the following morning. Yes, I'm insane. But boy, do I love what I do. :)
As with nearly all of my weddings in 2009, this wedding was filled with much love, laughs, tears, booty-shakin'....and Kilts and bag pipes? Yup! Kilts and Bag Pipes. Did I say this wedding rocked? OMG! Allie and Nelson's wedding is now a Featured Wedding - found in the galleries menu above.
I would love to tell you more about this wedding, but really, the pictures tell the whole story. Sit back, throw on some good rockin' music and enjoy!

Bridal Boutique: A L'Amour of Barrington
Ceremony & Reception: Hawk's View Gold Club
Wedding Coordinator: Becky Siegler
Ministry: Rev. Jeffrey D Best, D.D.
Dessert Table: Sugar Hills Bakery
What an amazing wedding day at Hawk's View Golf Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. First off, I'm a HUGE fan of log homes, though it's been several years since I thought about owning one. As we get older, get caught up in the madness of our daily lives, we tend to let some of our dreams fade away. Then I arrived at Hawk's View Golf Club, walked in the dining room, and was suddenly swept away. The expansive windows literally bring the outdoors, in. The heavy timber log posts and beams fill the room with so much warmth and character. Add this wedding's "vineyard theme" with rich colors and textures, and WOW! What a set up. On this particular chilly October wedding day, it was greatly needed; in the late morning we were tickled with a few snow flurries — Holy Freakin' cold. LOL But as the morning gave way to the early afternoon, we were blessed us with a wonderful golden sunlight; setting the stage for an absolutely gorgeous outdoor ceremony.
I've been around emotional weddings in this past, and this one is close to the top of the list. There were tears, hugs and laughter flowing at every moment of the day — and the toasts almost brought me to tears. I have to admit, many times I forget I'm a wedding photographer as I easily get caught up in moments such as these.
Much love and many blessings to Erica, Matt, their family and friends, for this unforgettable wedding day. :)
