Caitlin & Adam - Door County, Wisconsin
June 28, 2009Engagements

I'm sorry I'm behind on my blog posts, which is why I'm working on Sunday. :) There will be a few more engagement sessions posted this coming week, please stay tuned.

to start this week's engagement blogfest, I introduce you to Caitlin and Adam. Apparently they weren't "photogenic"; so they say.... I believe they rocked their session and completely opened up to the camera. As for Door County (I love the area), not only did we find a cool quiet cove along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Fish Creek, we also had a looming storm raging in that threatened to blow us away. Thankfully it drifted out over Lake Michigan and added a wonderfully exciting backdrop at the end of the day. ...and did I mention these two were TOTALLY AWESOMELY GOOFY?!? They're two people after my own heart, and I can't wait for their wedding reception at the Grain Exchange in Milwaukee. It's going to be one rockin' party.

Lotsa love,

c

Border War Shoot-out
June 12, 2009Personal

Last week I took a little break from wedding photography and spent an afternoon with three gorgeous young women and a few other talented photographers from La Crosse, Wisconsin and Winona, Minnesota. We had ourselves a little "border war shoot-out". We began our day by pillaging Red Wing, MN then jumped down to Lake City, MN to catch an amazing sunset along the Mississippi River. Being from Milwaukee, I felt a bit displaced — and that's the way I like it. There was plenty of inspiration, good eats, and best of all, making new friends while getting reacquainted with old ones. Thank you so much to Tiffany Brubaker and Porter for helping put this shoot together. And doubly good thanks to our Models, Shauna, April and Stephanie, for putting up with us photographers. Below is a little sampling of what I caught....fishermen and all. :)

Much love,

c

Jessica & Marco - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
June 6, 2009Weddings

Hair Dresser: Kellie, Oak Creek, WI
Ceremony: Sacred Heart Parish, Milwaukee, WI
Reception: Saint Augustine's, Milwaukee, WI
Portraits: New Berlin Firehouse, New Berlin, WI and Bender Park, Oak Creek, WI

I absolutely LOVE Jessica and Marco. I've known Jessica dating back to her days at Innovative Fitness in Franklin, WI. She signed my wife and I to a membership, and we immediately connected with her. Then again, I think everyone who meets Jessica has a magnetism to her; she has that kind of amazing personality. Just wait until you see her infectious smile(s) below. So it was no shock when I first met Marco, that he'd share the same personality type. The instant you meet him, it's as if you've been friends your whole life. How can you not love people such these two?

As for their wedding? OH MAN! What a full day. Full of love, laughter, friendships, family, and a good deal of ribbing and roasting amongst the groomsmen. They were absolutely tenacious. The wedding itself carried a Croatian flair, from the quaint little ceremony with the extended wedding party taking up the entire two first row of pews at the Parish, to the community style celebration afterwards. In fact, there were 500-600 or so guests invited for dinner and dancing. And as custom would have it, as you enter the post-ceremony celebration, you take a shot of Croatian brandy. OH BOY! It's not for the faint of heart. And if you happen to go for the trifecta, and sample all three brandies, the boys serving the shots go CRAZY! And the food?!? Oh my GAWD! It was an endless spread of good eats. The tradition is to have the Croatian women cook and serve a homestyle dinner for the celebration. With that in mind, Jessica and Marco had to find a location with a kitchen that could accommodate the vast quantities of delectable delights. About two hours after dinner finished, they brought another spread of good eats, from smoked pig, fish and sausages, to more desserts. It was such an amazing experience. I felt like part of the family, not just someone documenting their wonderful day.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Much love,

c
