Melissa & Bryan - Janesville, Wisconsin
|

Hair Salon: Posh Hair Boutique
Ceremony: St. John Vianney
Portraits: Rotary Botanical Gardens
Reception: Pontiac Convention Center
Videography: Drywater Entertainment
It just dawned on me; I think I've shot one whole wedding in Milwaukee this year. How cool?!? I'm spreading the love. ...And this next wedding wasn't in Milwaukee, either. LOL
I've been looking forward to this wedding since I booked it because I've known Melissa for a couple of several years. She's always been a ball of positive energy that brightens any room; so it wasn't shocking that her wedding day took on her personality. It was a ball of energy from the moment I stepped in the door at Posh Hair Boutique, and it lasted all the way until my evening was finished at the Pontiac Convention Center. ...I mean look the expression on her face as she's walking up the aisle as Mrs. De Lorimier. I had to deal with that ALL day...woe is me. LOL ...Then there is Bryan. He's sorta the opposite, at least he was on this day. He was Mr. Calm Cool and Collective. And he definitely has great taste; 1) He chose Melissa, she's so freakin' cool. And 2). Check out that BLING at the bottom of this post; it made my eyes pop when I threw a little light on it. As for the day, they couldn't have asked for a better blue skied day filled with love and friendship. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, I felt like I was part of their family.
Thank you Melissa and Bryan, it was an absolute honor and privilege to cover your amazing day.
Lotsa love and many MANY blessings,
c

Erika & Jake - Chicago, Illinois
|

I'd love to introduce Erika and Jake, another fantastically fabu Chicago couple. They're entirely laid back, which is almost as laid back as myself, and they're self-described as "photogenically challenged". That makes four non-photogenic couples in a row. Yeah, right. LOL They're simply another couple who knocked it out of the park. For this session, we took in the sights of the Chicago skyline from the amazing North Avenue Beach. The North Avenue Beach is like a midwest version of Rio de Janeiro's beach. It was absolutely packed on this gloriously windy and sunny Sunday afternoon. We fought through crowds of people and raging sand storms to find a few little secluded locations to shoot; and it was worth every eye-stinging grain of sand. I'm still shocked at the beach. WOW! it was a ZOO. We finished the day with a little street shooting on the Lasalle Bridge and around the Chicago Theatre. I'm such a fan of city lights and reflections, and Chicago is OOZING with these little details. :)
I have to add; this Milwaukee wedding photographer is looking very forward to Erika and Jake's wedding. These two are getting hitched at one of the most amazing golf courses in the world; Whistling Straits. It's a little slice of olde world Irish heaven on the blue shores of Lake Michigan. I can't wait. :)
Much love,

Allie & Nelson - Chicago, Illinois
|

Weekly #3. Thank you so much, to all of my couples, for being patient with this exercise of e-session cramming.
Remember earlier this year when I mentioned 2009 was going to be an amazing wedding season? Well?!? Here's another reason. I've been looking forward to this engagement session for quite some time. Mainly because it wasn't in Wisconsin, and that meant it was time to do a bit more experimentation and taking a few more photographic risks. What I didn't realize was how risky it would be to ride a Chicago train with over $11,000 of camera gear strapped around my neck. YIKES!!! I wasn't worried about losing the cameras, they're well insured. I was only worried about all the amazing work we captured, so I pulled the cards to ensure everything was safe and sound in my pockets.
OH! and just a reminder; this is the third couple in a row that suggested I'd have to work a miracle, because they're not a photogenic couple. Seriously? They killed it, as I knew they would. While we didn't have a lot of sunshine, perhaps a little mist, the day was perfect for aimlessly wandering around Chicago, looking for all sorts of inspirational goodies. Allie and Nelson were an absolute delight to hang with. Thank you so much for inviting me to down to the Chicagoland area. ...And I fully admit, I'm entirely jealous of the fact you live so close to the baseball shrine that is Wrigley Field.
Much love,
c

Erika & Michael - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
|

Remember when I said I have a three engagement sessions to post this week, well.....this is #2. :)
Erika and Michael were another allegedly "camera-shy" couple. OK! This has to stop. This is the second couple of my last four that have made the suggestion they're "not photogenic" or they're "camera-shy". Why does this have to stop? Because they all nailed a '10' on their respective shoots. Erika and Michael were an awesome couple, and rather brave and trusting I might add. We wandered through a sliver of the South Milwaukee wilderness near Lake Michigan, and found a washout from the previous week's torrential downpours. So I had 'em stand at one edge for a couple of quick shots, while I stood on the opposite edge. Amazingly, there were no mosquitos, bears or mountain lions that I can remember. From the wilderness, we went to the edge of the world (high above Lake Michigan) for a few amazing sky shots. From the lake we hit the urban underbelly of the new Marquette Interchange for some amazing light, color and texture - wait until you see the last photo in this post. GORGEOUS! They were an absolute pleasure to work with.......and make sure you go see the movie 'UP'. Seriously. It'll remind you of the "edge of the world" shots we took in Warnimont park. ...minus the silly dog. "Squirrel"
I'm so looking forward to your wedding at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center.
Much love,
c
