Kate & Rich - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

If you've never seen an October sunrise along Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, sit up an take notice. The light is simply glorious, and Lake Michigan rarely looks better. I was absolutely tickled when Kate suggested an early morning engagement shoot; as I never thought anyone in their right mind would wake up at 5:30 am to beautify so they could meet me prior to sunrise. God Bless Kate and Rich for possessing such fortitude.
Now on to my plight. Prior to this engagement shoot I spent the entire day in Chicago shooting an amazing Wedding. I didn't get home until after midnight, and I didn't get to sleep until 2:00 am. I managed to pull myself out of bed by 5:30 am, was on the road by 6:05 am, and on location by 6:25 am. Oh yes! It was cold. REALLY cold. And even more so the closer you were to the water.
BUT! OHHHHH was it worth it; the light, the sky, the fall colors, then add a beautiful couple — it's truly a photographer's dream. THIS is yet another example of why I love what I do. I love to be different, do things no other wedding photographers in Milwaukee would ever WANT to do, and do it on 3 hours of sleep. ....I'm still shocked at how incredible Kate and Rich look at 6:30 am. Me? Yeah! I'm thankful I wasn't in the photos. LOL
